Science and Space Camp

Space Camp a huge success!

Our Year 2 class were delighted to take part in Space Camp this year! The class were able to take part in two days of activity and an overnight camping experience in the school hall.

Throughout their camp, the children had the opportunity to stargaze with Wessex Astronomy Society who joined us from 6pm-7pm using telescopes and binoculars to make observations of the night sky and to participate in a range of active learning tasks to develop their understanding. The evening ended with a space themed bedtime story and hot chocolate before settling for a good night’s sleep!

Children slept in pop up tents in the hall in the morning they enjoyed a breakfast before more space themed activities continued across the morning. After lunch we invited parents and carers to join us in school for a special assembly and the children shared their experience. What a success!

Our new Phiz Lab

With help from the Ogden Trust grant and a donation from the PTA, we have been able to set up a new STEM room in the school. Our new Phiz Lab is a dedicated science lab for every class to use, giving our pupils access to a practical and engaging science curriculum. The lab will raise the profile of science in our school and hopefully inspire our pupils to become scientists of the future.
