At St Joseph's we teach the Music National Curriculum objectives through a variety of engaging units, some focusing on rhythm work, others on composition and melodic work. In addition, all key stage 2 classes spend at least a term working on learning to play and perform with care and control on a specific instrument, whilst learning to follow some form of music notation. The instruments studied in each year group are listed below:
Year 3: Recorder
Year 4: Ukulele
Year 5: Violin
Year 6: Violin and Samba
