A warm welcome to St Joseph’s School PTA! Our mission is to “enrich our children’s school lives through fundraising.”
Being part of the PTA is a very rewarding experience and can make such a difference in your child’s school life. We have a very hard-working team of PTA members but we do need more helping hands, so please do consider joining, even if for just a few hours. We love to see new members and being part of the PTA often produces many long-lasting friendships.
Meet our PTA
St. Joseph’s Parent and Teachers Association is made up of a committee of elected people. The positions are: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. All of these positions can be shared so you can join up with another parent to take a role. We have class representatives (usually one in each class year), a teacher representative and our President is Headteacher Mrs Elizabeth Rippon. Every year we hold an AGM when new members or existing members are voted in. Anyone can nominate themselves - we send out nomination forms every year so if you'd like to join please come along!
What does the PTA do?
We help to raise money for the little extras and luxuries for the children by holding fantastic fundraising events. The money raised has so far helped us to purchase our new improved Trim Trail in the playground, a new reading scheme for the whole school, play equipment for Foundation Stage and KS1, digital cameras, a friendship bench, lunchtime play equipment, our playground train, a Science Dome and Christmas and Easter crafts for every class. Our superb events include our hugely popular Summer Fayre, Christmas Fayre, Christmas Disco, Race Night, Quiz Night, Easter raffle, Book Fairs and more.
How to get involved
Come and join us at a meeting or offer your time to help at any of our events. More helping hands are always welcome! Your PTA needs you – remember it’s for the children. To contact the PTA please email firstname.lastname@example.org
When and where are the meetings?
We hold the meetings once a month in the school hall at 7pm - we try to keep the meetings brief as we know everyone has busy lives! We discuss upcoming and future events.
Please some of our recent fundraising events below:
School Christmas Card Project
We are delighted to announce that we raised £184 taking part in the School Christmas Card Project. It was lovely to see all of the children’s fantastic artwork as their cards, mugs and placemats were sent home. They worked very hard in class to create such wonderful work. We have some very talented artists! We hope you enjoy seeing your child’s artwork! Happy Christmas!
Summer Fayre 2019
Our PTA Summer Fayre was once again a great success and we are delighted to announce that together we made over £3,200!
As always it was a lovely community event and after a rather wet week we were very lucky with the weather! A big thank you to the PTA and to everyone who helped in the run up to the event and on the day; to all the teachers, the Year 5 choir, Year 3 dancers and our Karate club who performed in the arena; to all the stallholders and parent helpers and to everyone who came to enjoy the event. Your support really did make the Fayre a huge success. We were delighted to also welcome Dorset Police, the RNLI, the Little Sewing Table, Funtastic Club and Glitter Girls.
Well done to Year 6 who created their own stalls and worked hard on the day raising a fantastic £391 for the PTA, and thank you to the Year 5 Sports Ambassadors for working hard running the Tri Golf stall. Well done also to Year 4 pupils Amelia and Alice for raising £81.80 on their stall in aid of Cafod. Thank you to all the individual classes for working so hard on their stalls and raising valuable funds for the PTA.
Thank you to everyone who entered our first ever Bake Off at the Summer Fayre! Thank you to everyone who came to our PTA Quiz Night! It was a great success and a fantastic night was had by all who attended. Christmas Fayre 2018
Thank you to everyone who came along to support our PTA Christmas Fayre – it was a great success! It was a great family event with a magical Santa’s Grotto which was a real hit with the kids, and a Secret Santa Room where children could secretly buy and wrap a present for their loved ones – the children really loved this too! We had a great selection of gift and craft stalls including Tropic Skincare, The Book People, Flamingo Paperie cards, designer perfume with Sorelle, hand knitted items from Crafty Wools, handmade bows with Emily Lockyer and locally made honey from beekeeper Johanna Mills. We had tombolas, homemade cakes, biscuit decorating, glitter tattoos with Sparkle Art Face Painting and Christmas garlands with Ericka Golding. The playground was filled with real Nordmann Fir Christmas trees thanks to Christmas Trees Direct and we served refreshments all evening thanks to generous donations from Papa John’s Pizza in Christchurch, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Warburtons.
Our Christmas raffle was a huge success and raffle winners were delighted with their prizes. Raffle prizes were very kindly donated by The Jetty; Hoburne Brasserie 1912 restaurant, Tropic Skincare, Longdown Activity Farm, Farmer Palmer’s, the Regent Centre, Swanage Railway, BH Live, Lifestyle Active, Moors Valley, Beauty Rediscovered, Monkey Madness, Beales and Marks and Spencer.
Thank you to our very hardworking PTA who devoted a lot of their time to make this a fantastic event; to our St Joseph’s families who donated generously, gave their time to work with the children and helped on the night; and to the children who worked hard making decorations for the event. Thanks also to Stewarts Garden Centre and John Cribb for donating decorations and lights.
We raised an amazing £1,672 which will be used to enrich our children’s school journey. We hope you enjoy the pictures of our event.
Book Fair 2018
Thank you to all who helped with the Book Fair. The event was a great success and everyone enjoyed choosing their books from The Book People bookcases. We raised over £937 from the sale which has earned the school over £234 in commission to spend on our school library.
Well done to all our bouncy children who took part in the PTA fundraising. We raised £1,372 some of which I’ve already spent on crafts and party bits for our Royal Wedding Day. Thank you for making the difference.
