Year 1

Welcome to Year 1! Please see our curriculum letter below.

November 2022

In Science and Geography we have been learning about the four seasons. We have discussed how the seasons are all very different and the changes we see in each season. In Art we painted our own beautiful Autumn trees. Well done Year One!

September 2022

We have been learning lots of exciting things in class and we are very excited to share our learning with you.

In RE we have been learning all about God’s creation and how we can take care of it. Here are some of things that we collected showing the awe and wonder of God’s wonderful creation.

In Maths, we have been concentrating on place value and we have been counting forwards and backwards. In English, we have been reading and writing about our favourite fairy tales. The children have especially enjoyed reading the story of Goldilocks.

The children retold the story of Goldilocks using their own actions to help retell the story. We had some amazing ideas for our actions. Fantastic work Year One! We are very proud of you!

In Science, we have been labelling the parts of a human body and learning about our senses, and in Geography we have been learning all about Christchurch.

We have also had two special visitors to Year One. One was our Life Education lady who taught us to/ or how to look after ourselves and stay healthy. The children really enjoyed learning meeting Harold and listened beautifully to Lucy.

Our Second visitor was Lizzie Yarnold the Olympic skeleton racer. Lizzie came into class and spoke about what it is like to be a skeleton racer and a gold medallist. The children asked lots of questions and we had an amazing morning. Thank you to our special visitors.

What an exciting time we are having whilst learning in Year One!
