From Wednesday 6th January, we will be setting online learning for all children. The government has directed all primary schools to provide approximately 3 hours of online learning a day for primary aged children.
Miss Thomas will be using the online platform, Google Classroom, to set online learning each day. Since the first lockdown, there is a greater expectation on the amount of work set online and also for pupils to do this work while school is partially closed, to avoid further gaps in their education. We understand that families may not have access to lots of electronic devices and that in households where parents are working or there are multiple siblings, there are many challenges. With this in mind we will not be providing live lessons, but pre-recorded inputs or signposts to other online learning sites such as Oak Academy and BBC Bitesize, so that children and parents can access lessons at a time to suit them. Children can post their work on Google Classroom and teachers will provide feedback.
Teachers will try to meet 'live' with children across the week for prayer times, stories or learning games and will send details of when these 'live' sessions will take place, via Google Classroom. Our intention for these sessions is to help children with their wellbeing and provide them with contact with their teacher and class.
Work that will be set:
One daily English lesson
One daily Maths lesson
One Key Skills lesson e.g. phonics, times tables, reading or spelling.
One lesson each day from another curriculum area such as RE, Science, Topic, PE, DT, RSHE or Art.
If you need any further support, please contact the school office via email@example.com or by calling 01202 485976. We are able to organise reading books and paper copies of learning if required.
